A relentless Lorenzo Sonego doo almost two years of fasting returns to win an ATP tournament final by smashing 19-year-old Alex Michelsen 6-0, 6-3 and winning the last act of the ATP 250 tournament in Winston Salem, North Carolina. For the Italian this is the fourth career title while for Italy it is the tenth ATP Tour title won by an Italian player in 2024.
Exactly 23 months after his last tournament win in Metz, Lorenzo Sonego is back to savor the feeling of lifting a trophy and winning a final, that of the ATP 250 tournament in Winston Salem. With this victory Sonego returns to the top 50 in the ranking (as of Monday he will be No. 48).
For the Italian it is the fourth career title while for Italy it is the tenth title in this 2024 after Sinner's 5 titles (Australian Open, Rotterdam, Miami, Halle and Cincinnati), Berrettini's 3 (Marrakech, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel) and Darderi's one in Cordoba.
