Hard work leads to Olympic hockey bid for Milford’s Arcobello

Before he blossomed into an All-American at Yale, before he shared the ice with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in Pittsburgh, before he was chosen to represent the United States at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Mark Arcobello worked as a busboy for an Italian restaurant in Bridgeport.

But Arcobello, who was in high school at the time, wasn’t just any other busboy. “If the manager told him to make roll-ups — put the silverware with the napkin and roll them up — most kids would make 10 and go to the bathroom. Then they’d make two more and be on their cell phone,” recalled John Vazzano, owner of The Original Vazzy’s. “If you didn’t tell Mark to stop, he’d have 5,000 of them made. You know what I’m saying?
