It will be Pagliuca’s second parade in a month. His Atalanta won the team’s first Europa League title in more than half a century in May. While Europe may not be as prestigious as the Champions League, Atalanta stunned the football world with its Goliath-slaying victories over Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen and England’s Liverpool.
As co-owner and co-chairman of Atalanta, Pagliuca rode with players in an open-top bus in a five-hour parade through the windy, narrow streets of Bergamo, just outside Milan. “It’s really surreal,” Pagliuca said Tuesday as he headed to a Celtics team dinner in Miami to celebrate.
