When kickstarting a new opera company, there is no more reliable source of juice than the blood-and-thunder dramas of Giuseppe Verdi.
As opera houses across the world honor the Italian master in this, his bicentennial year, New Jersey's fledgling MidAtlantic Opera makes its debut with a concert devoted wholly to Verdi highlights.
"Verdiana" will be held tomorrow night at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove. Singers will include Sharon Azrieli Perez, Jeremy Gaylon, Christina Major, Sara Murphy, Ronald Naldi and Jordan Shanahan. Artistic Director Jason Tramm will conduct the MidAtlantic Orchestra and the combined MidAtlantic and Seton Hall University choruses.
