On Thursday night, May 27, Macaluso’s in Hawthorne became the setting for the Hawthorne Pride Alliance’s presentation of “My Big Gay Italian Wedding,” a play written by Anthony J. Wilkinson. Ticket sales went toward the HPA’s scholarship fund, which will be used to benefit two Hawthorne High School students as they seek higher education.
HPA Chairman Mike Stracco directed the play, which he said had faced numerous challenges rehearsing during the pandemic, but they overcame them. Stracco, who had performed in the play previously after first seeing it at St. Luke’s Theater in New York City a decade ago, said that working with Wilkinson and the 2021 Hawthorne cast was an “honor and a blessing.”
