Eduardo de Filippo's Neapolitan masterpiece Napoli Milionaria is kicking off at the American Conservatory Theater in just two days. The English version is called: "Napoli!" Marco Barricelli (Vigil at A.C.T.) and Stratford Festival star Seana McKenna (Phèdre at A.C.T.) lead the cast. During the tough days of World War II, a feisty, Neapolitan mother sets up a lucrative black market business to get her family out from under the boots of fascism and poverty.
She prospers, but maybe a bit too much—compelling her husband to ask hard questions about their motives, morality, and the state of their society. A dark and robust comedy, De Filippo's Napoli!
