'The Peoples' Tenor' got his start when the nuns at St. Anne's in Syracuse heard him sing

By: Linda Lowen

Like a character in a Broadway musical, Michael Amante breaks into song at seemingly random moments yet always comes out on top. He's sung while interviewing with a top accounting firm, haggling with a street vendor in Rome, even getting a cup of coffee at a cafe, and each time his powerful tenor voice has opened doors.

Today an acclaimed vocalist living in Vero Beach, Florida, Amante was raised in Syracuse and frequently returns for family and career. He headlined a recent fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association in May and will be back for Festa Italiana in September.
