Italian director Lina Wertmuller may be chosen to receive this year's Governors' Award or honorary Oscar for career achievement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.
Wertmuller, 88, the first woman director nominated for an academy award for Seven Beauties in 1975 and also known for The Seduction of Mimi, Love and Anarchy and Swept Away, is one of the favourites to be selected by the 54-strong board of governors Tuesday.
