Italy won the Under 21 Men's Volleyball World Championship! Total apotheosis at the PalaPirastu in Cagliari, where our National team overwhelmed Russia 3-0 (25-19; 25-22; 25-20) in a one-sided final and won the category title for the first time in history!

The Azzurri have literally knocked down the European Under 20 Champions, avenging the defeat suffered last year in the final act of the continental review and sending in ecstasy the public that has supported the boys of the CT Angiolino Frigoni against an opponent decidedly hostile and challenging.

Italy, which in the semifinals had been able to come back against Poland from 0-2, crushed the other big favorite of the eve and climbed on the highest step of the podium after losing four finals (the last in 2019 against Iran). After winning the European Championships, the Bel Paese closes this wonderful volleyball summer with another great joy, thanks to a group with a guaranteed future and talent.

Setter Alessandro Michieletto was on the court two weeks ago in Katowice, as a great owner of Fefé De Giorgi's team, and today he roared as an absolute protagonist: 18 points (3 aces, 3 mur1) to raise this trophy to the sky, a trophy he really cared about, so much so that he flew to Sardinia after the trip to Poland. Trento's hammer was splendidly flanked by captain Tommaso Rinaldi (11 points) and opposite Tommaso Stefani (11 points, 3 walls), all well directed by setter Paolo Porro.

At the center, the solid Nicola Cianciotta and Federico Crosato (authors of 4 and 6 points respectively), Damiano Catania the libero, the setter Leonardo Ferrato, the central Francesco Comparoni, the forwards Andrea Schiro, Giulio Magalini, Mattia Gottardo. Rounding out the team: the fearsome Russian attack was contained, Roman Murashko (15) and Omar Kurbanov (11) did not hurt.
