We can learn a lot from history. These days’ incredible heat clearly demonstrates that climate change is an undeniable reality: it isn’t going to happen, it’s happening already. We no longer need Greta, we have the Marmolada glacier and its deadly, unexpected collapse. We don’t need Cop26’s deadlines, we have Miami, forced to rise the streets’ level because they’re sinking.
From California to Europe, in this scorching hot summer, we realize water is precious, just like caring for the environment is. If woods and forests were kept properly, as it used to be, many of the fires that have been destroying Mariposa County and Yosemite Park, as well as the Carso and the Maremma, could have been avoided.
