Settimo Dolcetto is destined to be your secret pour for guests | Phil Your Glass

Dolcetto is the name of an Italian grape that grows in the Piedmont region in Northwest Italy. It is overshadowed by another Piedmont grape, Nebbiolo, that’s used to make Barolo, commonly known as the Wine of Kings. The name Dolcetto means “little sweet one;” however, this is not a sweet wine. Not even close.

“It’s our everyday wine,” explained Giulia Grasso, who was in Akron from the winery in La Morra to show off the new vintages of their wines. “It’s what we drink when we are picking the grapes for our Barolo wines." Dolcetto wines are the ace in the back pocket of hip, young sommeliers at swanky, trendy, new restaurants. These wines are known to be super food friendly. Pizza, pasta and salmon are widely suggested to be excellent pairings.
