I would like to pay tribute to my father for strongly influencing my life by instilling in me the principles to seize opportunities and to strive for a better life by hard work and dedication. He was born poor in southern Italy where farming was the main industry.
His own father, Joe Remedio, an orphan left his wife and five children to find work in America. He was hired in the mailroom of DuPonts and provided for his family by sending his pay home. When World War I broke out Joe returned to Italy to fight – it was during that time that his son, my father Pasquale, suggested the entire family return with him to America when the war ended.
