At the World Cheese Awards, Parmigiano Reggiano triumphed, emerging from the competition of the best cheeses in the world as the most awarded. Parmigiano Reggiano won 126 medals, awarded by the 250 experts who were part of the international jury. Seven "Super Gold" medals were won by Parmigiano Reggiano, six of which were won by dairies belonging to the National Parmigiano Reggiano Team - made up of 96 dairies from all the provinces in the area. 28 gold medals, 50 silver medals and 41 bronze medals were awarded.
"The National Parmigiano Reggiano team - said Nicola Bertinelli, president of the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium - has once again demonstrated the qualities of a cheese that is unique in the world. We return to Italy with our heads held high, with a total haul of 126 medals out of 174 samples presented in the competition after battling with 4,079 cheeses from 48 countries around the world. A success that is a source of pride for our entire supply chain, which every day engages thousands of farmers in 307 artisan dairies in the pursuit of absolute excellence".
