Milan has launched a smart library, offering printed books as well as audio books, at the city's Porta Venezia subway station. The BiblioExpress service offers more than 400 titles for all ages and tastes, including comics and DVDs, under a loan system linked to Milan's library network.
The new automated library, which works similar to a vending machine, is completely free and will be active seven days a week during the metro opening hours. To borrow books, readers need to be registered with the city library system or be resident in Milan.
