In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, legacy airlines in the United States have begun to expand their global networks to include more secondary destinations that cater to point-to-point travelers. Delta Air Lines, one of the largest carriers in the US and the market's leader in terms of profitability, is no exception.
Next week, the Atlanta-headquartered carrier will make one of its biggest moves to grow its European summer travel network by launching new nonstop routes to Catania in Sicily. These services will join several others in Delta's extensive European network, and the route is set to open up Catania as the airline's fifth summer destination within Italy.
