Hopes are rekindled after the always treacherous equestrian round, with the clear round bringing to the Azzurra all the 300 points available, followed by the bonus round in fencing, in which the Azzurra adds another 4 lengths to the 235 points already collected with the ranking round.
The Azzurra achieves another success in swimming, in which she excels, where her first place with 2'09″79 for 291 points leads Elena Micheli to dig a small furrow in the overall over her closest pursuers on the eve of the decisive laser run, in which the Italian starts in the lead and never looks back.
It matters little in fact if in the laser run the Italian's time is seventh overall in 11'54″10 for 586 points: enough to administer the advantage accumulated in the previous trials and cross the finish line with 1416 points, taking the world gold.
This completes a hitherto perfect 2022 for the Azzurra, which opened with the Italian senior title, continued with her first World Cup success, also achieved in Egypt, in Cairo, and her second place in the next stage in Budapest: the silver of 2019 turned into gold on this magical evening.
