Perhaps this is an answer who those who doubt the Holocaust veracity. It comes from a little town in southern Italy. The very first museum was inaugurated Jan. 14, 2009, in the town of Santa Maria al Bagno that hosted thousands of holocaust survivors and refugees of the Nazi persecution in the years 1944-1947. The town was also a stopping point to the clandestine immigration to Israel. My family and myself were there as well.
The Italian population showed great compassion and friendship toward us. A mural depicting the struggle of Jews trying to reach Israel was painted by one of the survivors and 60 years later transferred to the new museum. Photos and articles of the survivors are part of the exhibit.
