By: Matteo Meneghello

The Italian manufacturing system is trying to grow in a structural way, data from national statistics instituteISTAT show. Industrial sales rose 1.5% on the month in May, confirming positive signs seen in the first quarter, which had been obscured by a slowing April. Sales were also up 0.9% on average in the last three months compared to the previous three month period.

On the year, industrial sales jumped 7.6%. Meanwhile Italian industrial orders were up 4.3% overall on the month in May and 13.7% on the year. However, they fell 1% on average over the last three months compared to the previous three month period.
