Giovanni Ficarra: Triple Crown of international rowing

Giovanni Ficarra is the first holder of the so-called Triple Crown of international rowing, that is, the first athlete to win a world title in both traditional off-shore, coastal rowing/beach sprint and indoor rowing.

World Rowing, the international rowing federation began talking about the Triple Crown just on the eve of the World Indoor Rowing Championships being held in Canada and remotely, pointing on the occasion to those athletes and athletes vying for such recognition (of symbolic value, and not accompanied by an ad hoc award), including the CC Peloro bearer, who lacked just the rainbow gold at the oar ergometer to boast of this particular honor.

Now, instead, Ficarra no longer lacks even that, since competing from home at the World Rowing Indoor Championships based in Mississauga, Canada, after the world titles in beach sprint (Senior single in Oeiras 2021) and off-shoulder (two without Light Weights in Racice 2022), he also put in his trophy cabinet the one in oar rowing, imposing himself on the 500 meters, men's 23-39 years old pielle category. A highly prestigious result for the Italian, whose third world title in three years.
