The "Cloud" by architect Massimiliano Fuksas, Rome's new conference center, will be inaugurated on October 29. It took eight years of work to complete, a €300,000 investment, and brings Rome closer to its goal of competing with other Italian and European cities to snap up a bigger portion of the conference tourism business.
In the process there were a thousand obstacles to overcome and as many delays to endure, not to mention the flood of controversy that accompanied the building of the complex. "You might like the building or not, but it is now there and it is ready to be used to foster Rome's growth," said Enrico Pezzali, the CEO of the company owned by the Italian Treasury that manages the property (EUR SpA)
