Deputy Foreign Minister with the remit for policies regarding Italians abroad Bruno Archi made a visit this morning to the National Museum of Italian Emigration, part of the Vittoriano museum complex in Rome. Participants in the visit included members of parliament elected in foreign jurisdictions and members of the Committee on Questions Concerning Italians Abroad of the Upper House and of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Lower House.

Museum Director Alessandro Nicosia led the visit, explaining to the Deputy Minister and the parliament members the contents of the various rooms that hold a host of significant examples of the various phases and eras of Italian emigration.

The National Museum of Italian Emigration was created on the impetus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Since its opening in October 2009, the museum has enjoyed the enthusiastic appreciation of institutions and public alike as a valuable source of information on an important chapter in the history of Italy.
