The chic Italian town of Rimini celebrates the 100th birthday of its most famous son, director Federico Fellini

Even if you’ve not actually seen the movie, you’re probably familiar with the iconic black-and-white image of a beautiful blonde in a black strapless dress cavorting in a fountain. It’s one of the most famous scenes in one of the most famous films — La Dolce Vita — by Oscar-winning Italian film director Federico Fellini, who was born in Rimini just over 100 years ago.

As a result, this stylish little seaside town is celebrating his life and career. Get to know the highlights at the Fellini 100: Immortal Genius exhibition (tickets from £8.40pp, mostrafellini100.it) until April 13 at Castel Sismondo, one of the town’s most historic landmarks, dating from 1437.
