In the Archaeological Park of the Ancient Appian Way is the monumental Corneli Sepulcher, better known as Barberini Tomb, after the princely family that last owned the estate where this 2nd-century funerary complex rises.
On one side of Via Latina, which runs along a row of Rome’s slender pines, this brick temple stands out, intact, since the times of the Antonine dynasty. It has two floors above ground and an underground funerary chamber, at the heart of the monument: a wonder that will open to the public in November 2017.
