You cheddar believe it – an 837-pound block of cheese just got delivered to Mazzaro’s, and pretty soon, you’ll be able to hunk of it yourself at the Italian market. Typically, Mazzaro’s holds a ceremonial first cutting in early December, when the cheese will first become available for customers to buy. Stay tuned for updates, as this cheese is always in sharp demand.
The cheese itself is a black wax Auricchio Stravecchio provolone that was aged for 18 months in Cremona, Italy. Considered one of the finest styles of provolone in the world, Auricchio provolone is particularly sharp and is an excellent treat for St. Pete.
