It’s been nearly 40 years since DiVincenzo Bakeryopened in Irondequoit, but the roots of this family-run business stretch back a lot farther and even across continents. Dominic and Maria DiVincenzo started the first American version in 1905 on Central Park in northeast Rochester. Their sons Don, George and Joseph eventually took over that shop, which closed in 1976.
Three years later, the family opened the bakery on Portland Avenue just north of East Ridge Road in Irondequoit. Now in charge are Debbie Botsis; her brothers, Gary and Rick DiVincenzo; and their sister, Cynthia. They’re members of the third generation of DiVincenzos to run the family bakery locally.
