An Elmira restaurant that was a fixture on the Northside for more than 60 years is making a comeback. The Palms Restaurant, at 1157 N. Main St., will have an official reopening Monday with a new name and new ownership.

Joe Steigerwald, former manager of the Elmira Country Club, and his wife, Mona, closed a deal Feb. 19 to purchase the Palms from former owner Mary Canali. The new owners will officially reopen the restaurant Monday with the name 1157 North.
