So, what lies beyond that yellow awning at Salute in West Brighton? The second-floor Italian eatery — 412 Forest Ave., 718-447-7798 — has been open only for four weeks, but the neighborhood's reception of the new management has been rather positive.
As JoAnne Keogh of West Brighton raves via email: "I have been there three times already ... they have an appetizer of imported prosciutto with melon in a parmesan cheese basket ... chicken meatballs with potatoes. Their imported buffalo mozzarella is fantastic. And these are just the appetizers."
Yes, indeed, we agree after a couple of test drives that it's a very enjoyable restaurant, especially in the app department. Fresh breadcrumbs are baked into five Topnecks/Cherrystones. A raft of crusty, broiled parmesan cheese tops tender asparagus and buratta cheese over shaved prosciutto is finished with a spike of red pepper-infused oil.
