The Painted Burro to Replace Osteria Posto in Waltham

An upscale Italian restaurant in the western suburbs is going to become a new location of a Mexican dining spot that is under the same ownership. According to a source, Osteria Posto in Waltham is being replaced by The Painted Burro, with a Facebook post from The Waltham Channel mentioning that owner Joseph Cassinelli told the license commission this week that "I've been struggling up there for years to get enough people into that location" while saying that that concept was "too fine dining."

The new outlet of The Painted Burro--whose original location is in Somerville's Davis Square--will be more casual than Osteria Posto, though it plans to be "a higher end version of what's in Somerville." It is not known when The Painted Burro might open in the Osteria Posto space, so keep checking back for updates.
