Emilio’s Pizza Bids Farewell to the South End

A pizza spot in the South End will close its doors after nearly 40 years in business. Emilio Ventouris, who owns and operates Emilio's Pizza at 536 Tremont St., indicated to the Boston Guardian that he slipped two discs in his back and that the injury would require medical treatment, taking him away from being able to run the restaurant.

Emilio's has been around since 1979, as Boston Restaurant Talk noted, and has been a staple of the neighborhood. The restaurant serves pizza, pasta, calzones, hot and cold sub sandwiches, salads, and even burritos. Ventouris told the Boston Guardian he did not have a definitive closing date yet.
