There's a rumor going around that Sabatino's (4441 W. Irving Park Road, 773-283-8331) is about to close.
No way, says Angelo Pagni, who owns the restaurant with his brother, Enzo. "We closed for lunch, and that started the rumors," Pagni said. "We're not planning to go anywhere. We're open at 4 p.m. every day, seven days a week."
The news, or lack thereof, will be of considerable relief to fans of the restaurant. Sabatino's is perhaps the definitive old-school, fine-dining Italian restaurant, where formally dressed waiters deliver massive portions of food and where Continental dishes such as flaming steak Diane are prepared tableside with a solemnity befitting a religious rite. Exhale.
