Fred’s Italian Restaurant in Plainfield Township offers pizza, pasta, salads, subs, burgers and more in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. The restaurant, 3619 Plainfield Ave. NE, was opened in 1963 by Fred Pizzo, who was born in 1933 in Sicily, Italy. It’s now owned by his son, Sam, who says the restaurant prides itself on providing quality, Italian food to customers in a welcoming and comfortable environment.
“We’re not pushy or anything,” said Pizzo, who took over the restaurant in the late 90s. “We want you to feel at home when you’re here.” Fred’s menu boasts seven signature pizzas, including an all meat pizza, a vegetarian pizza, a Margherita pizza, and a Hawaiian pizza. Pizzo says Fred’s makes its own sauce and pizza dough, and uses all fresh ingredients. “We don’t make anything frozen,” he said.
