The only thing more devastating to the Scarmardella family than losing their restaurant to a fire on Christmas Eve, was the decision not to rebuild the space they had called theirs for almost 12 years. When they got the call in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve that their restaurant, Nuzzella's Pizza. 40 Path Valley Road, Fort Loudon, was on fire, they were distraught.

Owner Orespe Scarmardella, who ran the restaurant named after his mother with his wife, moved to the United States 12 years ago with the dream of owning the pizza shop. Once the shop was destroyed, Scarmardella had hope that he could rebuild in the same space, but he rented that space so it came up to his landlord. Ultimately the landlord told Scarmardella that he did not intend to rebuild the building.
