Last month World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani reopened his popular Italian restaurant, Capo’s, with an entire brand expansion featuring a new chef, logo and menu with a new focus on Detroit pizza. Chef Gemignani first introduced the Detroit pizza to San Francisco at his flagship restaurant, Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, eight years ago.
As Detroit pie gained recognition and became overwhelmingly popular there, he realized that the regional style deserved its own dedicated brick and mortar location. Fast forward to today and the Capo’s team has utilized their reopening for outdoor dining as an opportunity to fully move its Detroit pizza operation to Capo’s, after months of menu development and design renovations.
