C.I.A.O. – the Cultural Italian American Organization based on the South Shore (Boston, MA) - is moving ahead to gather the resources necessary to support its Italian Language and Cultural High school and Adult Education Programs. The Italian American Alliance has been heavily involved with this language program since its inception through the efforts of our Chairman, Dr. Domenic Amara.
The organization, which is just four years old, has helped initiate a 60 student Italian Language Program at Canton High School and, in cooperation with the Canton Public Library, a 40 student adult education program.
The group will be holding its first fund raising dinner on May 2, 2025, at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton at 6:00 P.M. Tickets are $75 per person.
The Canton High School Project the result of a joint effort of the Canton Public Schools, the Cultural Italian American Organization, the Consul General of Italy’s Office in Boston, C.A.S.I.T., Massachusetts Representative Robert Consalvo, the Italian American Alliance (IAA) and the prestigious Pirandello Lyceum, two of the most active Italian American cultural Organizations in Massachusetts.
C.I.A.O. is the brainchild of Dr. Paul Sergi of Canton who believed that Italian Americans, and those interested in Italian Language and Culture who lived South of Boston, would value an Italian Language and Cultural program.
“I was encouraged by the interest of so many people and organizations, both in and out of the Canton community, “said Sergi. “The support from the Canton Public Schools community, and others, was gratifying”.
He said that funds raised would provide the existing programs with extracurricular supplies and materials. He encouraged anyone interested to attend the Fundraiser, which he said promises to be an enjoyable evening of food, music and information. Speakers will include Dr. Paul Sergi and Dr. Domenic Amara.
The keynote speaker will be the noted historian and author Anthony Sammarco.
Tickets to the event may be obtained by payment made out to C.I.A.O.
Checks should be sent to C.I.A.O., 8 Hickory Lane, Caton, MA 02021.
