Tue, Oct 20, 2020, 11:00 PM – Wed, Oct 21, 2020, 12:30 AM CEST. Online event. A history of Italian language in the United States from the 18th century to the present through the voice of its Italian & American speakers. Link to the presentation here at www.italianinnovators.com
To trace the history of the Italian language in the United States means to follow the stories of its speakers. Since the 18th century, Italian has voiced trade, politics, music, heritage, and architecture, and has been spoken by both the intellectual elite and the emigrating masses. In this lecture, Dr. Cottini will examine the stories of the great ‘influencers’ who spread, legitimized, and enriched the Italian language in America.
