The Ambassador of Italy to the US, Mariangela Zappia, received a tribute from Gei (Gruppo Esponenti Italiani) in New York at the end of her term in Washington and her diplomatic career. The ambassador, the first woman to represent Italy in the US capital, held the post of permanent representative to the UN from 2018 to 2021, again becoming the first woman to lead the Italian mission.
