Mauro Lorenzini is the new Italian Consul General in Houston. Mauro Lorenzini is an Italian diplomat with 24 years of experience in the field of international relations. Born in Livorno in 1967, he graduated in Political Science fom the University "Cesare Alfieri" of Florence in 1993 and joined the Italian Foreign Service in December 1998. Between 1998 and 2000 he worked at the Directorate General for Multilateral Political Affairs and Human Rights.

Between 2000 and 2004 he served at the Consulate in Newark, as vicar of the Head of Mission. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2008 he was assigned to the Embassy of Italy in Pretoria, as first commercial secretary. From 2008 to 2011 he served at the Diplomatic Institute of the Directorate General for Human Resources and Organization.

From 2011 to 2015 he worked at the Permanent Mission of Italy to International Organizations in Geneva. From 2015 to 2017 he was posted at the Consulate General in Caracas, as Head of Mission.

Upon his return to the Foreign Ministry, at the Directorate General for Globalisation and Global Issues, he served as Envoy for Chad in 2017, and Head of the Unit for West Africa and Central Africa, from 2018 to October 2022.

On October 5, 2022 he assumed the functions of Consul General of Italy in Houston.
