The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of Queens College/CUNY is hosting a group dedicated to reading the entire Commedia in Italian with discussions conducted in Italiano. The group meets two Wednesdays a month. On June 5th, the group will be starting Canto, XV. The group breaks for the summer and will return on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 to perhaps complete Canto XV.

The Canto is read aloud for the pleasure of the Italian language, followed by paraphrasing of the text terzina by terzina in standard Italian. Meetings are scheduled through December 16, 2020. This is not a scholarly academic program but is designed for lovers of Dante, Italy and the Italian language. No particular text is necessary. All the different notes and translations make the discussion more interesting. Everyone, of all ages and backgrounds is welcome. Members of the academic, cultural and publishing communities and native speakers are particularly welcome. All of the discussions in the Dante reading/discussion group are 100% in Italian.
