At the IIC in New York, the fifth edition of Caruso Tribute Prize

The fifth edition of Caruso Tribute Prize, created by Dante Mariti and produced by Melos International, after many editions in Sorrento, arrives in New York. Enrico Caruso, in November 1903, leaves Napoli heading to USA, and debuts with “Rigoletto” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It’s a great success for Caruso, with the audience screaming for a bis of “La donna è mobile”.

Caruso is the first prestigious Italian voice to land in America, and also the first pop star in crossover music history. The gala event, with music and award ceremonies, will take place on October the 15th 2024, at 7:30 PM at the distinguished Italian Cultural Institute of the Italian Consulate in New York, in occasion of Enrico Caruso’s 150th birthday anniversary.

“This Prize is an occasion to award many Italian par excellence that stood out in various fields such as opera music, social activities, art, the made in Italy, both in the United States and in the whole world” Dante Mariti says, adding: “Let me remind you of the awarded personalities in 2023, like the French-Tunisian tenor Amadi Lagha, the American tenor Matthew Polenzani, the tenor Gianluca Terranova, Cesare Rascel, the American actor Armand Assante for his career, Onorevole Christian di Sanzo, RAI’s journalist Claudio Pagliara.

This edition will have the honor to welcome numerous illustrious names, such as Gianni Russo, American actor and entrepreneur, famous for his role in “The Godfather”, who promotes culture and lyrical music, Fabio Armiliato, famous tenor known also for his participation in Woody Allen’s movie “To Rome With Love”, professor Fabio Finotti, CEO of Italian Cultural Institute in New York, Biagio Maimone, journalist and communication expert, the Metropolitan Opera, the young tenor Alessandro Lora, with his homage to Lucio Dalla, Rosario Procino, entrepreneur and successful food service manager in New York, business woman Shantè Williams, Carolina Opera’s superintendent, the American celebrity influencer Desirèe Wallis Busnelli.
Also, Italian and American institutions will take part to the gala event, together with guests coming from
Italy and other outstanding New York personalities.

The event, with Comune di Roma’s patronage, as well as New York Comites support, is organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, and with RAI (Italian Television) which
will broadcast a TV special on Rai Italia.

The gala event will be EMCEEd by the great Barbara Politi. With the special participation of the artists: jazzman Marco di Gennaro, soprano Kristin Sampson, violinist Giovanna Ferrara, piano player Kathryn Oleander.
