If you think teenagers left alone in a basement with keyboards, a drum set, guitars and a sound system could spell trouble, just wait 30 or 40 years. What you might end up with is Franco Gallelli & Friends.
The five west-side musicians — Gallelli of Gates, bassist Lino Presutti of Hilton, and drummer Gino Romantini, keyboardist/backup vocalist Maria Rossi and singer Franca Cinelli, all of Greece — have yet to headline at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. But at Italian-American festivals and clubs from Cleveland to Waterbury, Connecticut, from Toronto to Philadelphia, they are hailed as rock stars.
