The Colonial Italian American Organization — CIAO — of Williamsburg will be hosting a meatball cook-off at Frothy Moon on May 31. CIAO was established in 1988 and initially was set up as a heritage organization for people of Italian origin, be it through family or marriage. Over time, the organization has opened up to anyone interested in anything Italian.
Currently, the group says it has about 130 members, and it is looking to grow and attract more members of all ages. The meatball cook-off will feature 10 chefs, some from inside the club and some from outside, competing for a people’s choice award. The money raised during the event will go to scholarships it awards to local students in Hampton Roads.
