The Overland Trail Museum's History Cafe returns Wednesday with "Art from the heart of Logan County." The monthly program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the High Plains Education Center. After enjoying muffins, coffee and a short presentation, take a stroll through the museum where you will see art created by some of our founding citizens, art created by the native people who inhabited this area and art created by contemporary residents of our city and county.
April's History Cafe focused on the rich history of Italian immigrants who settled in Logan County in the late 1880s through the first decade of the 1900s. They left Italy to escape the combined effects of political and economic upheaval as well as natural disasters. Italians were among the immigrant groups who came to Colorado to replace striking workers through the numerous violent clashes that erupted during Colorado's labor wars during the first decade of the 20th century.
