Richard DiLiberto reappointed Delaware Italian Commission Chairman

Delaware Governor John Carney has reappointed Atty. Richard A. DiLiberto, Jr. chairman of the Delaware Commission on Italian Heritage and Culture, for a three year term, effective April 29. Mr. DiLiberto has served as chairman since being first appointed by Gov. Ruth Ann Minner in 2006, and has been reappointed by Gov. Jack Markell and Gov. Carney five times. The commission has 9 members, 3 appointed by the Speaker of the House, 3 by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and 3 by the Governor, one of whom is designated as chairperson. 

The commission’s statutory duties are to establish, maintain and develop cultural ties between Italians and Italian-Americans; foster a special interest in the historical and cultural backgrounds of both groups, as well as in the economic, political, social and artistic life of the countries involved; and help establish or promote Italian language programs in the schools of Delaware. 

Mr. DiLiberto is a law partner in the personal injury litigation section of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP, and served in the Delaware House of Representatives from 1992-2002.

He and his wife, Faith, have three adult daughters and one granddaughter and reside in Newark, DE.
