The Saratoga City Council appointed Manny Cappello as the city's next mayor at its meeting on Dec. 2. Cappello, a Saratoga resident since 1992 with a background in business and education, has served on the council since 2010. He replaces outgoing mayor Howard Miller.
Mayors are appointed for one-year terms by a majority vote of the five-member council. Emily Lo was selected as the new vice mayor. The newly appointed officials were joined by their families on stage as each took the oath of office. After acknowledging the many dignitaries in attendance, they gave brief statements.
