After canceling last year's annual Paesano Days due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Sons and Daughters of Italy in America returned with the festival celebrating Italian heritage. On Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18, at South City Park in Redding, patrons can enjoy raffles, arts and crafts, music, and, of course, homemade Italian food.
The marquee event, however, is the game of Bocce, reminiscent of croquet or lawn bowling. The activity consists of rolling a heavy ball across a dirt court, hoping it comes to a stop near a light, white-colored ball called a Pallino at the ends of the court.
