To bring younger Italians closer to the knowledge of the United States of America, to deepen the study of overseas history, literature and geopolitics, and to foster a constructive comparison between the Italian and American people. These are the goals of the "Alla scoperta dell'America" (Discovering America) project, Promoted by Centro Studi Americani, which involved 400 students from 12 high schools in Rome and Lazio.

On May 30, at 11 a.m., the final event of the second edition of the project will be held at the CSA headquarters. After the success of the first edition, it was decided to expand the educational offerings with a series of in-depth appointments on current events. The ceremony will be attended by the Lazio Regional School Office and, for the U.S. Embassy in Italy, Cultural Attaché Rakesh Surampudi.

The project saw the collaboration of Vodafone Foundation -with the presentation of the learning game LV8- and Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations (COPOMIAO). Underlying the initiative is the idea of providing useful elements to learn about and explore the values of Western democracies in order to avoid a view of them conditioned by stereotypes.

For the 2022/2023 school year, a total of 63 lessons were held: the teachers who participated were professors and doctoral students from the Universities of Rome, as well as several personalities from the world of journalism and academia.

At the end of the course and on the basis of the modules attended, participating students were asked to produce a video content on a specific topic, chosen from the topics covered in the lectures. During the May 30 morning awards ceremony, an award will be given to the best work in each category. On behalf of COPOMIAO, an award will be presented by Umberto Mucci, President of We the Italians, who facilitated the agreement between Centro Studi Americani and Basil Russo, President of the Italian American association.

A committee appointed by the Center for American Studies has been charged with selecting the best entries.
