Rago is the creator and host of “Cooking with Nonna,” the popular online cooking show and food webisode series, featuring recipes passed down throughout the generations that are simple to make, delicious, and rich in their history. Rago’s idea for the show came about in 2008 when she was a junior at St. John’s University and living with her Nonna Romana.

The show was launched soon after and episodes highlight recipes from Nonna Romana and other Italian grandmothers from around the country. Rago cooks together with them, often in their own homes, and shares their histories with these dishes in the process.

Born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, into a family of culinary aficionado’s and food lovers, Rago is a first-generation Italian American who traces her roots to Mola di Bari, a small fishing village, located in Puglia, where her parents were born.

In addition to inspiring grandmothers from around the world to pass down their sacred recipes, entertaining audiences with her show, and popularizing authentic Italian cuisine, with “Cooking with Nonna,” Rago expanded the brand to include a product line of kitchen accessories, apparel, pasta, and more. She is also the bestselling author of two cookbooks “Cooking with Nonna Cookbook” and “Cooking with Nonna Cookbook: A Year of Italian Holidays” featuring classic and holiday recipes from about 30 nonne.
