Super Bowl 2023 protected by AI with Italian DNA

On February 12, 2023, the 57th Super Bowl was played and won by the Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl is undoubtedly one of the most important sports and media events in the world, certainly the one that moves the most business. Nozomi was chosen to defend this event from possible hacker intrusions and all went well. Such intrusions would have been damaging, not only economically, to the point of requiring cooperation with the U.S. Defense.

Nozomi (which means Hope in Japanese) is an Italian-American 'unicorn': the company founded in 2013 by Italians Andrea Carcano and Moreno Carullo is now a leading multinational company. Nozomi monitors and protects networks and critical infrastructures of some of the most important companies in the fields of oil and gas extraction, energy, pharmaceuticals, automotive and also airports, transportation and smart cities.

Nozomi, whose main rivals are Israeli startups, is based in San Francisco, but its Italian roots remain particularly strong, with offices in Milan and Varese in LOmbardia where much of the technology is developed. The choice of San Francisco was necessary to grow within the ideal cybersecurity ecosystem. A point of arrival because, as Carcano himself said, "if you are in cybersecurity, you can only look to the States." And Silicon Valley has rewarded Nozomi, with opportunities and access to capital that no international marketplace would have guaranteed.

The capital may be American or international, the media success as well, but programming this AI that protects essential infrastructure and who knows what the hell else there are Italian brains, and that makes us feel especially proud and, at least in a small part, winners of this Super Bowl.
