Pasta De Cecco 1886 officially joins the Union of Italian centenarian companies: the company, founded in Abruzzo thanks to Filippo De Cecco's intuition that led to the creation of the first hot air artificial drying plant, thus becomes the 40th member of the Union, which brings together companies belonging to 11 regions of Italy.
De Cecco's invention, dated 1889, laid the basis for a continuous and efficient production of pasta, increasing at the same time its shelf life and opening the doors to the export market. De Cecco's production, not surprisingly, was also featured at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair distinguishing itself "for its superior structure, color and toughness after cooking".
Now, more than 130 years after the birth of the pasta factory, Pasta De Cecco can also boast of having been included by the Ministry of Economic Development in the recent register of historic brands, where it stands out as the first dry pasta factory to have obtained the recognition of "Historic Brand of National Interest".
