You know that line you always hear about there being no decent pizza — let alone apizza — down South? Fuhgettaboutit! One of East Haven’s oldest and best pizzerias, Tolli’s Apizza at 410 Main St., is getting ready to open a second place later this year in a well-traveled, fast-growing shopping area of Johns Island, S.C., a barrier island just outside Charleston, S.C.
Some ex-East Haveners now living down there are salivating at the thought of Tolli’s coming to them later this year. “Oh my Gosh, yes,” said Barbara Eule, who lives with her husband, Peter, for part of the year in Clinton and part of the year in the Charleston area. “First of all, my husband Peter — he’s 73 — has been eating there since he was a little boy.”
